​11th Annual Rock Your Rack Event is on the way!

Breast cancer is one of the leading health crises for women. 13% of women, and an every increasing percentage of men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.

Models Giving Back is pleased to present Rock Your Rack, an annual fundraising event combining the best of SL Music, Art, Dance and Fashion to support the work of breast cancer charities and raise awareness for early detection which is critical to a positive outcome for this devastating disease.

This year's sponsors include  The Best of SL, BOSLArts, LOPO District, *DBS* Designs by Soosy,  Digital Farm System,  Playdolls, Fae Folk, Emerald Couture, Emerald Man, Coco Louis and Kultivate Music Management.

About Models Giving Back

Models Giving Back is an agency of professional, certified SecondLife models who give of their time and talents to raise funds for legitimate and verified SL and RL charities.  

Models Giving Back was founded in October of 2012 by Jamee Sandalwood after a previous agency dedicated to charity work was forced to close due to the owner leaving SecondLife.  Jamee felt the work that was being done needed to be continued and set out to lead the models that were already a part of the former agency into new and bigger endeavors at the newly created Models Giving Back. 

To date the agency has partnered with dozens of designers and provided models for runway, print and other functions that support charities around SL.

Rock Your Rack is the creation of Jamee Sandalwood and is owned exclusively by Models Giving Back in SecondLife.

About the National Breast Cancer Foundation

The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34.  At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options.  After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.  NBCF’s mission is to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need.  This mission includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

**This a late posting**

April 9, 1982 was good Friday.  At 10:21am that day, I was born.  My mother and grandmother were chilling in her room when she said, "I feel the head" and a Queen was born shortly after.  Today I turned 40 years old and I in no way shape or form feel it.  I remember how I feel turning 18, 21, 25, 30, and none of it compared to how amazing I feel today.  I feel so blessed to see another year.  I feel like my body is enjoying it.  I have brain tumors so for me this is a special time.  Thank you to everyone that wished me a Happy Birthday and gave me a gift.  Welcome to the 40s!

2021 SL Christmas Expo Opens Friday December 3rd

“The 12 Days of Christmas” Helping To Fight Childhood Cancer

Since 2011, the SL Christmas Expo has been “Giving The Gift of Hope”, and is dedicated to children with cancer. The event which supports the American Cancer Society, is the premier Holiday shopping and entertainment event in Second Life. Opening on December 3rd, the “12 Days of Christmas” features more than 150 stores and shoppes, spread over 15 gorgeously designed regions, and brings together merchants, Breedables, entertainers, and volunteers for 12 days of shopping, music, auctions, and holiday special events.  

As always the Holly Jolly Café presents the top performers in Second Life for nearly non-stop entertainment. Buy a ticket for the Holiday Shopping raffles, visit the Christmas Tree Lot and the Merchant village or stop for a Picture With Santa.

Once again, American Cancer Society partner Linden Lab will take part in the Expo with special surprises and events.  Take a picture with Santa Patch & the Elf Moles, get a Limited Edition Patch on a Shelf elf, and check out the newest Linden Homes at the 2021 winter reveal region.

And don’t forget to check out the Holiday Lights at The Lights of Hope home decorating competition, returning once again for 2021. The Lights of Hope regions feature homes decorated for the holidays by some of the best home designers in Second Life and an entire region of Linden Homes decorated by Lindens and Moles. Vote for your favorites by donating to special kiosks located at each home.
While shopping continues until December 14th, The Expo culminates with the giant Winter Breedable Auction and the Holidays of Hope Ball on Sunday December 12th.
